Wealth is a first year BSc biomedical science student at the University of Portsmouth with a strong interest in public health, healthcare, and medicine. Although she is studying biomedical science. Wealth hopes to pursue a master鈥檚 in public health in the future, either before or after graduate medicine, which is another area she is very passionate about.

Alongside Wealth’s academic interests, I also founded the Glee Foundation in Ghana, an initiative focused on supporting underprivileged communities and giving back through outreach and support projects. She is also interested in psychology, social work, and business-related subjects, which is one of the reasons public health appeals to me so much, she sees it as a meaningful intersection between healthcare, people, and wider systems.

What particularly attracted Wealth to this internship was the opportunity to explore the relationship between healthcare, public health, and data science. While she does not yet have a strong background in technology or data science, she is someone who enjoys challenging herself and stepping outside her comfort zone to learn new skills and grow through new experiences. Wealth chose biomedical science despite also loving business-related subjects, if something genuinely interests her, she likes pushing herself to pursue it even when it feels difficult.

Wealth loves the field of medicine and healthcare, and enjoys being involved in environments where she can continue learning about patient care and the wider healthcare system.
